Patio

We started tearing up the grass to install the new patio on Memorial Day weekend. What have I gotten myself into? Robert Gauthier and I rented a sod cutter and borrowed the Crystal Lake church’s van and trailer. The rain delayed the project until 9:30am so we did not get done until 2 – then I had to go to work. Wow, it was a lot of work and we hauled about four trailers of sod. But, the church benefited as we laid the sod around sidewalks and roads where the plow killed the grass. I’m reconsidering my plans of hand digging the 7 inches of topsoil.

Gurus of Tech

Willow Creek of Crystal Lake hosted the 2012 Gurus of Tech conference for ministry technical volunteers and staff. Eric Hoelter, Josh Sharp, and Ben Sincock from The Orchard Evangelical Free Church attended. Many vendors were represented and we got our hands on the newest Yamaha sound boards, LED lights, and DSLR cameras. We divided and reassembled after the breakout sessions. Tim Gibson, Technical Director at the Crystal Lake Evangelical Free Church, attended – the last few days before Eli was born.

Twin’s Birthday Party #7

The twin’s birthday party was themed after a carnival this year. We hosted at our house and my mother came to help. It was a wonderful party. The games included photos, crafts (paddle and ball), face painting, treasure hunt in the sand box, matching yellow ducks floating in our canoe, bag-o toss, bowling, and tin can knock down.

Date with Daughters

It was time for a heart to heart talk with the twins about our dating system. This thing about taking turns on who goes first was not working. It was such a bother to keep track of it and I was always disappointing one of them. Heather had to do “Special Time with Mommy” while the second place girl cried watching her sister go on the date. Boo hoo. Well, no more. We are now rotating – Alexis, Rachel, Alexis, Rachel, etc.

Ye Family Garden

Our garden was paved over by a bike path so we created another rectangular one. A spreadsheet was created with the layout and more permanent metal stakes were used to mark the rows. Now we have to keep the bunny out.

Meemaw is in heaven

Hazel Wyatt Briggs, 88, of Germantown, TN passed away Monday, March 12 at Germantown Methodist Hospital. She was born December 23, 1923 in Milan, TN. We traveled to Memphis for the funeral over the weekend.

Black Belt

I tested for my black belt. The test was held at Young Masters in Woodstock. Seven judges oversaw the test including Master Dughe and Master Knuth.

Date with Twins

For a quick date I took the twins for shopping separately. Alexis first and then Rachel. It’s funny how important the girls find it that they take turns being “first” for each rotation of dates. Alexis gets the first date and then Rachel. Next time, Rachel goes first and then Alexis. Why not just rotate? Whatever. If it’s important to them then it’s just plain important.
