Daughter Date with Daddy was to Home Depot and then to Chuck E Cheese. We purchased some paint in a racing kart. At Chuck E Cheese, Rachel enjoyed a game of air hockey and the Merry Go Round. It was a quick date b/w work and dinner.

Date with Rachel
Rachel wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese again for her date. First, however, was a quick stop to the lock and key shop. Come to find out that the shop owner had twins and his wife was a twin. Rachel enjoyed playing with the key combination on a safe while I finished my chores. At Chuck E Cheese, Rachel darted to the Merry Go Round. She entered the coin and I purposely leaned into the ride to wave hello as she approached. She giggled as the post collided with my head and started to “pull” me around in circles. I amused her several more times with the same trick, adding more laughter with each collision. We played skee ball, had photos taken, and other ticket games. My favorite was playing air hockey.
We went off to the bank, returned to Chuck E Cheese to retrieve the forgotten photos, and back to the lock and key shop. A wonderful date!
Date with Alexis for breakfast
At 7:03am Alexis woke up. Allowed to disturb her parents only after the first number on the clock reads “7,” she quietly walked down the hall. I asked her if she was ready to go on her date to the Richard Walker Pancake House. She quickly got ready and we were off. We ordered one plate of strawberry pancakes. Alexis poured the syrup and cut. I fed every bite to her and every other bit (or two) to myself. She even drank some of my coffee (the “it makes you go fast” kind).
After breakfast, we took our picture by the fireplace and headed outside. It rained the night before so there were large puddles in the parking lot – perfect for Alexis’s green frog boots. We stomped in the water and then headed home.
Date with Alexis at Chuck E Cheese
For this date with Alexis, we went to Chuck E Cheese during spring break. The place was packed so Alexis had lots of friends. Except she doesn’t like boys in the tubes so when the boys came by, she stood still and waiting for them to pass. Naturally, the boys did not even notice her as they zoomed through the tubes. Alexis went to the flower shop and brought home a bouquet for Rachel. She hid the flowers behind her back to present her gift at the door.
Heather and Rachel stayed home and got dressed up. Heather was beautiful – hubba hubba.
Date with Rachel at the flower shop
On this date with Rachel, we went to the flower shop and then to the pet store. Rachel brought home a green Fuji Mum for Alexis. Meanwhile, back at the homestead, Heather and Alexis painted pictures of princesses with water colors.
Date with Alexis to the flower shop
So we really don’t do anything on our dates – just play, talk, imagine, learn, etc. A gal named Amy gave Alexis this flower for free just because.
Dating my Twin Daughters
As a father, I find a lot of joy taking my twins out on “Father Daughter” dates. The twins take turns having a special activity with just Dad. When Rachel goes out of a date with Dad first, Alexis stays home with mom doing something crafty. On the date, Rachel would buy something for Alexis as a gift. Then vica versa for the other’s turn. The dates are not typically to the same place for both girls, but always in the same week.
It’s important to love my daughters individually. We build memories and have lots of fun. I’ll sing silly songs, hold hands, and take them on small adventures. The twins talk about nothing important but always interesting. Maybe, if I show them genuine love as a father, they will be know how to be loved when that inevitable boy comes their way. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to model God’s love to my daughters.
