What turns pain-ting into painting is a power roller.  The Wagner power roller certainly makes painting less of a pain, and I completed 2 gallons of primer in 2.5 hrs in the kitchen/family room.  This includes 2 large walls 16×9, 15×9, another 16×9 with a window, area around sliding glass door, area behind cabinets, stove, fridge.  Lot of up/down toward the end.

There’s a reason it’s called pain-ting.  It’s because after several days of it, your un-exercised muscles begin to tingle and burn and knot up.  Taping, arranging drop cloth, taking down blinds, closet doors, etc all take so much time. And if you’re a woman who paints, then you also get to stop and fix dinner or call for pizza delivery.

We’ve owned this house for almost 2 weeks and we have 3 rooms painted and 2 more trimmed out.  I’ve made at least six trips to Home Depot.  I’ve removed cabinetry and relocated a fridge.  I’ve made color choices and fabric choices.  I’ve mixed a custom color with leftover paint.  I’ve cleaned baseboards twice.  Once before we closed and again when I went to tape and the tape wouldn’t stick.  Vaccumming doesn’t necessarily remove all dust, spiders, animal hair and glass.

I thought we’d be farther along in this venture of painting, but maybe by dinnertime tomorrow I’ll have cause to celebrate.  Hopefully the kitchen will no longer be “grape” and will be “praline”.
